If you’re hooked on A5, this is an incredible value at 40% of the price. It might not hit the tippy top levels of A5, but unless you’ve already experienced that, this, cooked properly, will be the best steak of your life. You may even like this better. It has all the best qualities of Japanese beef. The fat starts melting at room temperature, and is very soft and melty almost like a salmon belly. The meat is super tender. There’s just less marbling than in the import version. Because Americans like everything big - that can be a plus. You’re still going to want to eat much less of this than an American steak, but you can eat more than at A5 fat levels. Wagyu is a different aesthetic- it’s not about plowing through 48oz mega steaks - it’s about savoring small bites of perfection. I cut a 14oz ribeye into 2-5oz steaks, and a 3rd portion for steak & eggs leftovers. Heavenly.
Ordering was simple. Product showed up quick and packaged well. Fried it in cast iron pad with minimal seasoning and it was definately the best tasting and tender rib I have ever had.
I am waiting for the holiday to prepare it. It looks really good, marbled is best I have seen. I think this is as good as any A5 steak you could buy.
Waiting for September 8 th for my wife’s birthday will let you know I also order a Brisket last Monday and getting ready to order some beef ribs.
